Series: Hidden, #1
Publication date: November, 2012
Genre: YA Paranormal
Sixteen-year-old Leah Grant has given up on being normal. She’d settle for stopping the voices in her head, intrusive visions of the future, and better odds of making it to her seventeenth birthday.
That’s the thing about pretending to be human in a world where magic used to exist – at any moment, her cover could be blown and she’ll be burned to death like the rest of the witches.
Everything changes when she loses control of her powers and flees the orphanage she grew up in. She desperately wants to be invisible but finds her face plastered on every news channel as humans panic over the possible resurgence of her kind. And now the hunters won’t give up until they find her.
Making friends for the first time in her life and falling in love with one of them drives her to discover why she is unlike any being she’s ever met – human or otherwise. The dangerous powers inside of her that would repel Nathan, her new, handsome reason for living, are priceless to some. The locked up forever kind of priceless. And to others, they are too dangerous to allow her to live.
Let’s hope she can stay hidden.
Some words about „Hidden” :
„I understood why she wanted to kill me. I didn’t belong here in the first place. The world would be better off without me in it. I closed my eyes, torn between wanting to escape and wanting it to be over. I should have been more prepared. I’d known for years what face I’d see in my final moments, but no power of mine could have predicted what would lead me here.”
M. Lathan. Hidden (Hidden Series Book One)
Hidden is written in first person, from Christine’s point of view. Reading this book was like reading someone’s diary, which was kind of awkward but hey! now I can say that I’m a bad girl- a rude one! Never mind…
Well, I loved the relationship between Leah and Nathan. It was nice actually watching their relationship start out as a friendship. But! It was a fast one. I wanted to be, I don’t know, a little complicated maybe? It was like „Oh, hey, I don’t know you but I love you!”.
There is a lot to like in this book. M. spins a suspenceful tale with just the right amount of romance! Strong character profiles and interesting details made for an incredible read. „Hidden” is full of emotions that will make you angry, sad, happy and take a breath when you didn’t realize you were holding it. The storyline is a bit mystery, and a bit teen drama, but it’s a good, fun read.
The rest of the story was perfect! Congrats M. Lathan!
„I watched the chaos and the school shrink to nothing as we pulled away from it. I sighed, happy this whole mess was finally over. Emma held a tube of lip-gloss to her lips like a microphone. “Leah slash Christine slash Cecilia, what do you have to say to the people of the world. Certainly, you don’t appear to be a kidnapping victim? What have you been doing?” Everyone laughed at her fake reporter voice. She held the lip-gloss microphone to me, and I smiled. “Um … I’ve been away, figuring myself out,” I said. “And I’m not so bad.” „ M. Lathan. Hidden (Hidden Series Book One)
